Matthew 25:31-46
Overcoming Temptation with Trust in God

Temptations are a part of our Christian journey. Even Jesus, after His baptism, was led into the desert to be tempted. No one grows in faith without facing trials. But how we respond to these temptations determines whether they strengthen us or lead us away from God.

The first temptation comes from what we lack or think we need. The devil tempted Jesus to turn stones into bread, appealing to hunger and survival. We, too, are tempted to fill our emptiness with things that do not truly satisfy—whether material possessions, unhealthy relationships, or fleeting pleasures. Instead of seeking quick fixes, Jesus invites us to trust in God’s provision and be grateful for what we have.

The second temptation is about controlling God. The devil tempts Jesus to throw Himself down from the temple, testing God’s protection. We sometimes do the same—wanting God to approve of our plans rather than seeking His will. Faith is not about manipulating God but about surrendering to His greater purpose for our lives.

The third temptation is bitterness and despair. When we suffer, we may feel that life is unfair, and we risk falling into hopelessness, blaming others, or even turning away from God. But Christ reminds us that temptation is not a moment to make rash decisions—it is a time to pray, wait, and trust.

Whenever we face temptation, let us remember: do not act in haste, do not lose hope, but turn to prayer. The Lord will always provide the grace we need to overcome our trials. Be patient, trust in Him, and let His strength be your victory.Amen.
