Third Sunday of Easter
John 21: 1-19
Fishers of Hope

As we journey through this Jubilee Year of Pilgrims of Hope, today’s Gospel speaks to our spiritual pilgrimage. The scene unfolds at the Lake of Galilee, where the disciples find themselves with empty nets after a night of fishing. How often do we, too, return to old habits when we feel disheartened or uncertain about our path?

Peter’s experience mirrors our own spiritual journeys. Despite having followed Jesus, he reverts to his former life: “I am going fishing.” This retreat to familiarity in times of confusion is deeply human. Like Peter, we sometimes neglect prayer, substitute meaningful family conversations with distractions, or abandon charity when life becomes demanding. These backward steps leave us with empty nets and unfulfilled hearts.

The beauty of this Gospel lies in Jesus’ response. He doesn’t reproach the disciples but tenderly calls them “children” and invites them to cast their nets again. In this Jubilee Year, Christ offers us the same invitation – to begin anew with Him, to push into deeper waters despite our disappointments.

When Peter hears, “It is the Lord,” he dives impulsively toward Jesus. What beautiful imagery for our pilgrimage of hope! The Jubilee calls us to this same spontaneous love – to move beyond calculation and convenience toward Christ with renewed enthusiasm.

“Do you love me?” Jesus asks Peter three times, and He asks us the same question today. Our pilgrimage isn’t primarily about knowledge but about love. Our response to this question determines whether we’ll continue fishing as before or embark on the true pilgrimage of discipleship.

As pilgrims of hope in this Jubilee Year, we’re invited to dive courageously into the good without fear of loss, without excessive calculation, without waiting for others to begin. May Our Lady, who promptly said “yes” to God, help us rediscover the impulse to do good as we journey forward in hope.

救主告訴我們:祂就是道路。生活並沒有GPS來指引我們到達真正的目的地。與那指給我們正確方向的導航系統不同的是:我們蒙召遵循的是我們內在的路徑。這是自我探詢的旅程,我們在自己從事的事情中找到滿足感,對我們所做的事保持熱愛,保持其純真。關鍵在於:我們要知道自己是誰,而不是成為他人的反映,我們要明白:天主在我們今生對我們的期望。這就是道路 —— 瞭解自己,使我們的偏情與天主的期望保持一致,與祂同行。

天主召叫我們展現 —— 不是向世界證明我們的身份,而是要揭示真理:我們的生命根植於祂內。我們要避免尋求他人的認可,避免陷入無休止的驗證自身價值的陷阱,使自己免陷於依賴世人的認可,避免使自己的情緒波動,令自己感到不安。相反,我們要努力過上真正的生活,真正意識到,天主珍視我們。當我們真正愛上生命,完全接納生命,那時候,我們就真正反映出那存於我們心中的天主。

天主邀請我們成為祂的門徒。這不是我們獨自完成的任務;祂常與我們同在,從來沒有遺棄我們。祂對我們的愛是持久的,不變的,毫不動搖的。耶穌,出於對我們的愛,祂獻出了自己的生命,祂不斷照護我們,祂所在乎的,不是不完美的我們,而是我們的心。今天,花一些時間,感受祂對你的愛,在你生命中的每時每刻,都要體驗到祂對你的愛。要知道,我是被珍視的,這愛邀請我向世人分享相同的愛。

Life in Abundance

The Lord shows us that He is the way. Life doesn’t come with a GPS to guide us to our true destination. Unlike navigation systems, which direct us in the right direction, the path we are called to follow is within. It is a journey of self-discovery, where we find fulfilment in what we do, love what we do, and remain authentic in it. The key is not to become a reflection of others, but to know who we truly are and to understand what God desires for us in this life. That is the way—knowing ourselves, aligning our desires with God’s will, and walking with Him.

God calls us to show—not to prove to the world our identity but to unveil the truth of our lives that is rooted in Him. We should avoid the trap of seeking validation from others or endlessly trying to validate our worth. Relying on worldly approval leads to fluctuating emotions and a sense of unrest. Instead, we should strive to live authentically, embracing the knowledge that we are cherished by God. When we truly fall in love with life and fully embrace it, we reflect God’s presence within us.

God invites us to be His apostles. This is not a task we must fulfil alone; He is always with us, never abandoning us. His love for us is constant, unchanging, and unwavering. Jesus, who gave His life out of love for us, continually watches over us, not concerned with our imperfections but with our hearts. Take a moment today to feel His care for you, to recognise His love in the everyday moments of your life. Know that I am cherished, and this love invites me to share that same love with the world.

奉獻,感謝,分享

今天的福音經文給我們展現了餅和魚的徵兆,天主愛和祝佑的徵兆。若望把天主的大能作為稱作神跡。如此,醫生告訴我們:發燒不是疾病,而是更深層次,更明顯的跡象。因此,當我們讀聖若望福音中深層次徵兆的時候,就要記得:讓我們不要被這些徵兆所困,而是要探求其中蘊含的更深層次意涵。

在這個神跡中,耶穌做了幾個核心的動作 —— 奉獻,感謝,分享 —— 這些動作繼續塑造我們的生活,尤其是在聖體聖事中。

首先是奉獻:一個男孩獻出了他微不足道的五個餅和兩條魚。這些獻禮儘管很少,卻是耶穌以此創造偉大奇跡的材料。這個動作提醒我們:在我們的生活中,即使那些看似微不足道的東西,也可被天主採用,以此彰顯祂的光榮。正如我們在彌撒中奉獻餅和酒一樣,我們也被邀請奉獻我們自己,獻上我們的禮物,不論它們看上去多麼微小。

其次是感謝:耶穌拿起餅,感謝天主,然後分給他們。這個動作教導我們:感恩的重要性。我們所擁有的一切都是天主的賞賜,我們藉感恩的行為,承認所有的美物都源自天主。我們得上主獻上微薄的愛,天主就收納,使之轉變,化作更大的恩典,正如祂增多餅和魚,使眾人得到飽飫。

最後是分享:我們在聖體聖事中相聚,我們共同領受基督的聖體聖血,基督的聖體聖血會改變我們,團結我們。每一個愛和施捨的行為,每一次共同領受聖體聖血,都是與恩典相遇的契機。

讓我們反思:我們是否相信我們有獨特的天賦? 我們是否對天主的恩典表示感激?我們是否與他人分享祂的愛?願榮福童貞瑪利亞幫助我們在共同領受聖體聖事的時候,在我們每天的生活中,都接納這些奉獻,感謝,分享動作。

Memorial of Saint Athanasius, Bishop and Doctor of the Church
John 6:1-15
Offering, Giving Thanks, and Sharing

Today’s Gospel presents us with the sign of the loaves and fishes, a sign of God’s love and providence. John calls the mighty works of the Lord as signs. These days, medical doctors tell us that a fever is not a sickness but a visible sign of something deeper. Therefore, when we read about the signs in the Gospel of John, remember not to get stuck with the signs but to search for their deeper meanings.

In this sign, Jesus performs three key gestures — offering, giving thanks, and sharing — that continue to shape our lives, especially in the celebration of the Eucharist.

First, offering: A boy offers his humble five loaves and two fish. Despite their smallness, this offering becomes the material for a great miracle. In our lives, this gesture reminds us that even what seems insignificant can be used by God to reveal His glory. Just as we offer the bread and wine in the Mass, we too are invited to offer ourselves and our gifts, no matter how small they may seem.

Second, giving thanks: Jesus takes the loaves, gives thanks to God, and distributes them. This gesture teaches us the importance of gratitude. Everything we have is a gift from God, and in the act of thanksgiving, we acknowledge that all good things come from Him. Our feeble love, when offered to God, is transformed into a greater grace, just as the loaves and fish are multiplied to feed the multitude.

Lastly, sharing: In the Eucharist, we come together to receive the Body and Blood of Christ, a sharing that transforms and unites us. Every act of love and giving, when shared in communion, becomes an encounter of grace.

Let us reflect: Do we believe that we have something unique to give? Are we grateful for God’s gifts? Do we share in His love with others? May the Virgin Mary help us to embrace these gestures of offering, thanksgiving, and sharing in every Eucharistic celebration and in our daily lives.

有尊嚴的工作

每年5月1日,教會慶祝勞工主保聖若瑟。1955年,教宗庇護十二世設立這個紀念日,以此作為對日漸增長的無神論的回應。教會以此提醒全世界,工作不只是經濟必需品,也是神聖的召叫,是通向聖潔,尊嚴和團體的道路。

聖若瑟是一個謙遜的木匠,他總是默默的,堅持不懈,憑自己的雙手工作。福音經書用希臘語 tekton指向他,這意味著:他不只是木匠,也是建築師,工匠和工人。耶穌本人也學會了這門手藝,因此,祂被稱作“木匠的兒子”(參看:瑪13:55)由於祂每天默默工作,因此,天主聖化了這尋常不過的勞動,使其顯示出深刻的屬靈價值。

這樣的反思要求我們記得所有工人:那些在危險環境下工作的工人,那些沒有得到公平的工資和保護的工人,那些失業者,那些被剝削的,受人戲耍,被迫從事勞動的童工。今天,這樣的現象,依然存在,要向天為這些不公平的現象嗟歎。

工作不只是收入,更是參與到天主正在進行的造世工程。它塑造了身份,培養了團體,維護每人的尊嚴。剝奪男人或女人正在從事的有意義的工作,就是在損害他們的尊嚴。正如教宗方濟各提醒我們的那樣:“工作是一種有尊嚴的聖油。”

作為基督徒,我們蒙召去建立一個使所有人有尊嚴地謀生的社會。讓我們宣導公平的勞動實踐,支持那些正在找工作的人,總不忘記基督也曾以粗糙的雙手工作。願勞工主保聖若瑟替所有勞工祈禱,願我們從他的榜樣中學到靜默的力量,忠信服務,對天主的恩典,深信不疑。

Thursday of the Second Week of Easter
Or St. Joseph the Worker
Matthew 13:54-58
The Dignity of Work

On May 1st, the Church honours St. Joseph the Worker, a feast instituted by Pope Pius XII in 1955 in response to the growing influence of atheistic communism. In doing so, the Church reminded the world that work is not just an economic necessity but a sacred vocation, a path to holiness, dignity, and community.


St. Joseph, a humble carpenter, worked with his hands in silence and perseverance. The Gospels refer to him with the Greek word tekton, meaning more than just “carpenter” — it meant builder, craftsman, and labourer. Jesus himself learned this trade and was known as “the carpenter’s son” (Mt 13:55). Through this hidden life of daily work, God sanctified ordinary labour and revealed its profound spiritual value.


This reflection calls us to remember all workers: those who labour in dangerous conditions, those without fair wages or protections, the unemployed, and especially children robbed of play and forced into toil. These realities, still present today, are signs of injustice that cry out to heaven.


Work is more than income — it is participation in God’s ongoing creation. It shapes identity, fosters community, and upholds dignity. When a man or woman is deprived of meaningful work, their dignity suffers. As Pope Francis reminds us, “Work is an anointing of dignity.”


As Christians, we are called to build a society where all can earn their bread with dignity. Let us advocate for just labour practices, support those seeking work, and never forget that Christ himself laboured with calloused hands. May St. Joseph the Worker intercede for all labourers, and may we learn from his example of silent strength, faithful service, and deep trust in God’s providence.
