Luke 21: 1-4
True Generosity: Giving from the Heart, Not from Abundance

In today’s Gospel, Jesus observes a poor widow who gives two small coins to the temple treasury. Though her offering is tiny compared to the gifts of the wealthy, Jesus is moved by her generosity. “This poor widow has put in more than all the others,” he says, “for she has given all she had to live on” (Luke 21:4). Her gift, though materially small, is a profound act of faith, trust, and love.

Jesus’ words challenge us to rethink what true generosity looks like. The widow’s offering was a sacrifice; it wasn’t given from excess but from her very sustenance. Her trust in God’s provision is humbling. Unlike the rich, who give only what they can spare, this widow’s gift expresses a complete reliance on God.

Today, we are called to ask ourselves: How do we give? Do we share only when it’s convenient, or are we willing to give sacrificially, trusting that God will meet our needs? The widow reminds us that generosity is not about the size of our gift but the love and faith with which we give it. It’s about sharing even in our own need, recognizing that everything we have is a blessing from God meant to be shared.

In the early Church, this spirit of radical sharing was foundational. Christians were known for their willingness to support each other, pooling resources so that “none was in need” (Acts 4:34). As followers of Christ today, we too are called to live with open hearts and hands, to embrace a spirit of solidarity and generosity.

May we learn from this widow’s humble example, trusting in God’s provision and giving joyfully from the heart, knowing that in God’s kingdom, even our smallest acts of love matter greatly.

今天的福音經文呈現了兩個呈明顯對立的王國,比拉多,一個擁有世俗權力的人,他質問耶穌,天國的君王。比拉多感到疑惑,他想要知道:這個在他面前,看上去極其脆弱的人,祂是如何表明自己擁有王權的。耶穌卻平靜地予以澄清:“我的王國不屬於這個世界。”祂啟示說:祂的王國並不基於世間的權勢,而是基於真理和自作犧牲的愛 —— 這樣的愛情,如此強大,以致它會使人發生改變,而非掌權。

這個機遇邀請我們反思自己對權威和權勢的理解。比拉多同我們許多人一樣:他從掌控和掌權的角度看待權威。然而,耶穌給我們顯示一條與此不同的道路:祂的王權的定義是:無私之愛,自甘交出自己,承行天主的旨意。祂心甘情願接受苦難,以此向我們顯示天主無限的愛。

耶穌呼籲我們每人聆聽祂的聲音,跟隨祂,成為這個真理和愛的國度的一份子。在一個為了權力的緣故,為這個權勢舉行慶典的世界,我們受邀去服務,去愛,為他人舍掉我們的生命,如同我們的君王所做的一樣。真正的真理不在於支配,而是在於忠信和犧牲。

每當我們站在被逮捕,保持緘默的君王面前,我們蒙召做出選擇:我們是否要接納祂的王國,接納祂需要我們謙卑和交托,還是對這個稍縱即逝的權能,把持不舍?讓我們鼓起勇氣,對耶穌的召叫說“是”。願我們聆聽祂的聲音,按照祂的真理生活,以我們的一生為永恆的天國,至高無上的愛的國度作證。

The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
John 18: 33-37
Accepting Jesus as King demands humility

Today’s Gospel presents a striking scene of two kingdoms in stark contrast. Pilate, a man of earthly power, questions Jesus, the King of a heavenly realm. Pilate is puzzled, wondering how this seemingly vulnerable man before him could claim kingship. Yet Jesus calmly clarifies: “My kingdom is not of this world.” He reveals that his kingship does not rely on earthly might, but on truth and sacrificial love—a love so powerful that it transforms, rather than dominates.

This encounter invites us to reflect on our own understanding of authority and power. Pilate, like many of us, viewed authority in terms of control and dominance. But Jesus shows us a different path: his kingship is defined by self-giving love, by handing himself over to fulfil the Father’s will. He willingly embraces suffering to show us the boundless depth of God’s love.

Jesus calls each of us to listen to his voice and follow him as members of this kingdom of truth and love. In a world that often celebrates power for its own sake, we are invited to serve, to love, and to lay down our lives for others, just as our King did. True strength is found not in control, but in faithfulness and sacrifice.

As we stand before the captured and silent King, we are called to make a choice: Will we embrace his kingdom, which often requires humility and surrender, or cling to the fleeting power of this world? Let us ask for the courage to answer, “Yes,” to Jesus’ call. May we listen to his voice, walk in his truth, and live as witnesses to a kingdom that has no end, a kingdom where love reigns supreme.

按照天主预许的复活之恩许生活

今天的福音经文使我们面对面的与撒杜赛人相见,他们是具有影响力的领袖,拒绝承认复活。他们给耶稣呈现了一个看似荒诞的场景:有一个妇人,她娶了七兄弟,每个兄弟都没有给她留下子嗣。他们问耶稣说:“复活的时候,她会是谁的妻子呢?”他们意图嘲笑复活的概念,把它描绘成不合乎逻辑,不可能的观点。

但是,耶稣看透了他们的问题,以清晰具有权威的方式对此做出回应。祂解释说:复活以后的生活,超越我们尘世的生活。复活的时候,关系被改变;我们不再受世俗婚姻的束缚。我们将彻底成为天主的儿女,彻底分享,完全充盈天主永恒之爱的新生命。耶稣邀请我们:不要把复活看作一种延展的生命,而是要把复活看作一种与天主同在的崭新方式。

耶稣提醒我们:天主与祂的子民有着永远的联系。祂强调:那是一种超越死亡的联系,祂把自己称作亚巴郎,依撒格,雅各伯的天主。虽然,这些古圣祖早已离开尘世,不再存在于此尘世,但始终在天主面前。耶稣揭示了一个深刻的真理:天主的爱,如此持久,如此强大。祂的爱超越死亡,把生命注入到我们只能感知到死亡和结局的所在。

我们作为一个群体,这段讯息,藉着天主有权由死而生,改变了我们的信仰。这使我们确信:我们的希望,不是一个暂时性的许诺,而是一个永无止境的,天主的爱。我们因着基督,得到这恩许的永生,在那里,我们将与天主永远生活在一起。愿我们紧紧抓住这个希望,接纳战胜万有,甚至战胜死亡的爱。

Luke 20: 27-40
Living in the light of God’s eternal promise of resurrection

Today’s Gospel brings us face-to-face with the Sadducees, influential leaders who rejected the idea of resurrection. They present Jesus with a seemingly absurd scenario: a woman marries seven brothers, each of whom dies without leaving her a child. They ask, “In the resurrection, whose wife will she be?” They intend to mock the concept of resurrection, portraying it as illogical and impossible.

But Jesus sees through their question and responds with clarity and authority. He explains that life after resurrection transcends our earthly realities. In the resurrection, relationships are transformed; we won’t be bound by earthly customs like marriage. Instead, we will be fully alive as children of God, sharing a new lifecompletely filled with God’s eternal love. Jesus invites us to see resurrection not as an extension of life here, but as a wholly new way of being with God.

Jesus reminds us of God’s everlasting connection with His people. He highlights a bond that transcends mortality by referring to Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Although these patriarchs have departed from earthly existence, theypersist in God’s presence. Jesus unveils a deep truth: God’s love is so enduring and powerful that it transcends death, infusing life into places where we perceive only deaths and endings.

As a community, this message renews our faith in God’s power to bring life from death. It assures us that our hope is not in a temporary promise but in an unending, divine love. In Christ, we are promised this eternal life, a life where we will dwell with God forever. May we hold fast to this hope, embracing the love that triumphs over all things, even death itself.

藉著真正的敬禮潔淨我們的心

在今天的福音經文中,我們看到耶穌進到耶路撒冷的聖殿,這具有深遠的意義。祂走向耶路撒冷的旅途不只是一次訪問;祂的真正目的是:重塑聖殿,使聖殿重新成為一個祈禱之所 ——與天主相遇之所。耶穌進到聖殿以後,祂趕走了商人,宣告說:“我的聖殿原是祈禱之所,你們卻使它成為了賊窩。”(參看:路19:46)耶穌不僅反對把聖殿商業化,消除一切對這神聖空間構成干擾的因素,使之回到真正的朝拜之所。

這一具有預言意味的潔淨行動提醒我們:天主的聖殿 —— 包括我們的生活 —— 必須建基在真正的奉獻之情,不帶有任何干擾或相互衝突意涵的行為之上。耶穌的行為,意在強調:祈禱與朝拜與關係休戚相關,而非與交易休戚相關。天主邀請我們以真誠,開放和謙遜之心走向祂,而非只是向祂獻上膚淺的禮品。

正如耶穌在聖殿裡教導的那樣,人們“傾聽祂的話。”(參看:路19:48)祂的話承載生命,恩典,使人發生改變,觸及那些傾聽之人之心的恩許。今天,我們受邀自問:我們是否滿懷相同的殷切之情,傾心聆聽耶穌的話?我們是甘願清除那阻礙我們與天主相遇的因素?

Luke 19: 45-48
Cleansing our hearts through true worship

In today’s Gospel, we see Jesus entering the Temple in Jerusalem, which carries profound significance. His journey to Jerusalem was not just a visit; it was a mission to restore the Temple’s true purpose as a house of prayer—a place for encountering God. Upon entering the Temple, He drove out the merchants and declared, “My house will be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves” (Luke 19:46). Jesus was not merely opposing commerce; He was calling for a radical return to authentic worship, stripping away the distractions that had overtaken this sacred space.

This prophetic cleansing act reminds us that God’s house—including our own lives—must be founded on true devotion, free from distractions or conflicting intentions. The Temple had become a venue where the focus shifted to material wealth instead of encountering God. Jesus’ actions emphasise that prayer and worship are about relationships, not transactions. God invites us to approach Him with genuine, open, and humble hearts rather than simply presenting superficial gifts.

As Jesus taught in the Temple, the people “hung on his words” (Luke 19:48). His words carried a promise of life, grace, and transformation, stirring the hearts of those who listened. Today, we are invited to ask ourselves: are we hanging on Jesus’ words with the same eagerness? Are we willing to clear out what keeps us from a full encounter with God?

Jesus’ message is a powerful reminder for us to return to the heart of worship and make space for His Word in our lives. May we be open to His teaching, allowing it to shape us, cleanse us, and draw us ever closer to the presence of God.
