福音:若8:1-11

今天教會慶祝莫格羅韋霍的聖托裡比奧(Saint Toribio de Mogrovejo)的自由紀念敬禮日。取自聖若望福音的經文給我們展現了一個犯姦淫時被人捉住的婦人。我願意在這樣的契機下提供一些反思。

我們時常會按照自己的意願,隨從我們心中的思想,隨意對待那些與我們一起生活的人。那從我們心中發生的思想,時常充斥著屬於這個世界的主人給我們帶來的惡念,因這些惡念,我們時常切望肉性的事,那屬肉性所切望的,便是耶穌所說的,從心裡出來的那些惡念、邪淫、盜竊、兇殺、姦淫、貪吝、毒辣、詭詐、放蕩、嫉妒、譭謗、驕傲、愚妄。(參看:谷7:21-23)由這些惡念所產生,便是互相之間的指摘。

我們知道,心裡想什麼,身體就會做什麼。由於罪的本性,我們慣常會忽略我們自己所犯的各種違背天主聖意的罪過,這使得我們如同福音中的法利賽人那樣,以指責他人為樂。可是,今天,耶穌告訴我們:“讓你們中間沒有罪的那人,先向她扔石頭吧。”(參看:若8:7)祂要求我們先省察自己,認清自己所犯的罪,在天主聖神的光照和帶領下,主動與天主和祂所造的這個世界重修舊好,使天主的愛在我們心中占優,好能在每日的生活中,相稱活出福音的精神,並因始終隨從天主聖神的指引,不再回到過去有罪的生活,而是生活在天主的愛內,彼此提攜,同走天路。

天主,我們因祢的神妙恩寵,滿渥各樣祝福;求祢使我們經由過去的行徑,走向嶄新的生活,好使我們能為光榮的天國,做好準備。藉著祢的子,我們的主耶穌基督,祢和祂及聖神,是天主,永生永王。亞孟。

Monday of the Fifth Week of Lent / Optional Memorial of Saint Toribio de Mogrovejo
Gospel: John 8:1-11

Today the Church celebrates the Optional Memorial of Saint Toribio de Mogrovejo. The passage from the Gospel according to Saint John presents us with the scene of a woman caught in adultery. I wish to offer some reflections on this occasion.


We often treat those who live with us arbitrarily, following our own desires and the thoughts that arise in our hearts. These thoughts are frequently filled with evil notions brought by the prince of this world. Because of such evil notions, we habitually crave what is carnal—and what is craved by the flesh are the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, avarices, wickedness’s, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, pride, foolishness that come out of the heart, as Jesus said (cf. Mark 7:21-23). From these evil thoughts arise mutual accusations.


We know that what we think in our hearts, our bodies will do. Due to the nature of sin, we habitually overlook the various sins we commit against God’s holy will. This leads us, like the Pharisees in the Gospel, to take pleasure in accusing others. Yet today, Jesus tells us: “Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her” (cf. John 8:7). He asks us first to examine ourselves, recognize the sins we have committed, and under the light and guidance of the Holy Spirit, actively reconcile ourselves with God and His creation. May God’s love prevail in our hearts, so that we may live the spirit of the Gospel worthily each day. Following always the guidance of the Holy Spirit, let us no longer return to our sinful past but live in God’s love, supporting one another as we journey toward heaven.

O God, by whose wondrous grace we are enriched with every blessing, grant us so to pass from former ways to newness of life, that we may be made ready for the glory of the heavenly Kingdom. 今天是聖周前最後一個四旬期主日。取自聖若望福音的經文給我們描繪了耶穌在伯大尼發顯的最大神跡,祂在那裡復活了已死了四天的拉匝祿,以此揭示祂是生命之主。這樣的場景與我們在日常生活中的經驗相似。

我們時常會在生活中面對生離死別。在我們看來,當我們的至親與我們分離時,我們便會認為,我們已經永遠失去他們,他們不再與我們在一起了。事實上,那些與我們在現世分離的親友,只是短暫地與我們分開,在末日靈魂與肉身再次結合在一起時,我們便會與他們相聚。一如今日耶穌聽說祂的朋友拉匝祿病了,祂並沒有立即前往伯大尼,而是停留在原地了兩天,以後,便與祂的門徒,往伯大尼去。(參看:若11:1-7)為能加增天主的光榮。


我們時常會按照我們對事物的理解,思考我們與天主的關係。一如今日與耶穌同行的門徒,他們對耶穌說:“辣彼,近來猶太人圖謀砸死祢,祢又要往那裡去麼?”(若11:8)因為在他們看來,現世生命比永生更為重要,他們之所以如此擔心耶穌的安慰,是因為,一旦他們失去了耶穌,他們便會失去他們自認為,已經找到的,為他們復興整個以色列的默西亞。一如聖若望在另一處記載的那樣:“你們尋找我,並不是因為看到了神跡,而是因為吃餅吃飽了。”(若6:26)一旦耶穌被猶太人用石頭砸死,他們所寄希望的一切,便會破滅。


事實上,藉著所領受的聖洗,我們已在由耶穌的心中所流出的活水,就是耶穌在帳棚節最末的一天,祂在聖殿裡喊說的那“從祂的心中要流出活水的江河。”(參看:若7:37-39)依祂豐厚的慈愛,洗淨了原罪,藉著所領受的聖洗,我們已與基督相結合,我們的神魂便獲得了自由,一如保祿所說:“如果基督在你們內,身體固然因罪惡而死亡,但神魂卻賴正義而生活。”(羅8:10)

上主,我們的天主,祢的聖子出於對世界的慈愛,將祂自己交於死亡,我們懇求祢,使我們藉祢的助佑,熱切從事同一慈悲善工。藉著祢的子,我們的主耶穌基督,祢和祂及聖神,是唯一天主,永生永王。亞孟。

Fifth Sunday of Lent
Gospel: John 11:1-45

Today is the last Sunday of Lent before Holy Week. The passage from the Gospel according to Saint John presents to us the greatest sign worked by Jesus in Bethany: there, He raised Lazarus, who had been dead for four days, thereby revealing that He is the Lord of life. This scene resonates with our experiences in daily life.


We often face separation and loss of loved ones. In our view, when a dear one departs from us, we believe we have forever lost them, that they are no longer with us. In truth, those who are separated from us in this earthly life are only temporarily parted; on the last day, when souls and bodies are reunited, we will be with them again. Just as today, when Jesus heard that His friend Lazarus was ill, He did not go immediately to Bethany but remained where He was for two more days, then set out with His disciples for Bethany (cf. John 11:1-7), in order to bring glory to God.


We often think about our relationship with God based on our own understanding of things. Just as the disciples who were traveling with Jesus that day said to Him, “Rabbi, the Jews have recently sought to stone You, and are You going there again?” (John 11:8). For in their eyes, this earthly life seemed more important than eternal life. Their concern for Jesus’ safety stemmed from the fear that if they lost Him, they would lose what they believed to be the Messiah who would restore all Israel—just as Saint John records elsewhere: “You are seeking Me not because you saw signs, but because you ate the loaves and were filled” (John 6:26). If Jesus were stoned to death by the Jews, all their hopes would be shattered.


In truth, by the Sacrament of Baptism we have received, we have been cleansed of original sin by the abundant mercy of God, who pours out the living water flowing from the heart of Jesus—the very water He proclaimed in the temple on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles: “Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water” (cf. John 7:37-39). Through Baptism, we are united with Christ, and our souls have been set free, as Paul says: “If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the spirit is alive because of righteousness” (Romans 8:10).

By your help, we beseech you, Lord our God, may we walk eagerly in that same charity with which, out of love for the world, your Son handed himself over to death. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever

我們時常按照事物的一般規律,對在我們周圍所發生的事,進行解釋。一如那些與耶穌一同生活的猶太人一樣,當他們聽到耶穌說:“誰若渴,到我這裡來喝吧!凡信從我的,就如經上說:從祂的心中要流出活水的江河。”(若7:37b-38)的猶太人一樣,按照自己對由耶穌口中發出的言語的理解,隨意判斷耶穌,並因這判斷,使他們中間發生了紛爭。(參看:若7:41-44)因為他們隨從的是來自肉性的妄動,而非隨從天主聖神的引導。

我們對天主聖意的理解,有時也會如同與耶穌同時代的猶太人、司祭長和法利賽人一樣,在他們看來,既然天主是仁慈的,是全能的,祂定會拯救祂的僕人出離一切苦辛。因而,當天主沒有按照我們所希求的那樣,恩待祂的僕人,我們便會認為,那些向我們宣講天國的福音的人,便是出自邪惡,因而拒絕聆聽他們所宣講的,有關天國的福音。(參看:若7:45-49)甚至拒絕聆聽那些以心神以真理朝拜父的人,他們為所信奉的真道所作的崇高見證。(參看:若7:50-53)

我們離聖周越來越近,因此,讓我們改變過去對耶穌和祂所宣講的天主之國的看法,不再如同生活在此變幻塵世的人那樣看待天主,而是要按照天主聖神的啟迪,正確理解天主聖言,相稱活出天主聖言。

天主,願祢的慈悲善工,正確引導我們的心,因為沒有祢的恩典,我們在祢眼中,得不到恩典。藉著祢的子,我們的主耶穌基督,祢和祂及聖神,是天主,永生永王。亞孟。

Saturday of the Fourth Week of Lent
Gospel: John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30

In today’s Liturgy of the Word, the Gospel passage from Saint John presents us with a scene where the crowd debates because of the words spoken by Jesus.

We often interpret the events around us according to the general patterns of things. Just as those Jews who lived with Jesus, when they heard Him say, “Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture says: ‘From within him there shall flow rivers of living water,’” (Jn 7:37b-38), they judged Jesus arbitrarily based on their own understanding of His words, and this judgment caused division among them (cf. Jn 7:41-44). This was because they followed the impulses of the flesh rather than being guided by the Holy Spirit.

Our understanding of God’s will can sometimes be like that of the Jews, the chief priests, and the Pharisees of Jesus’ time. In their view, since God is merciful and almighty, He would surely deliver His servants from all suffering. Therefore, when God did not bless His servants as they had hoped, they concluded that those who preached the Gospel of the Kingdom were of evil intent, and thus they refused to listen to their proclamation (cf. Jn 7:45-49). They even refused to hear the noble testimony given by those who worshiped the Father in spirit and truth, and who bore witness to the truth they believed in (cf. Jn 7:50-53).
As we draw closer to Holy Week, let us change our past perceptions of Jesus and the Kingdom of God He proclaimed. Instead of seeing God as people of this changing world do, let us understand Him correctly under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and live out the Word of God worthily.

May the working of your mercy, O Lord, we pray,
direct our hearts aright,
for without your grace
we cannot find favor in your sight.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever

福音:若7:1-2,10,25-30

今天的聖道禮儀中,取自聖若望的福音向我們描述耶穌在住棚節和光明節期間,祂在加里肋亞和耶路撒冷的行實。

我們能從那些耶路撒冷居民所說的話看到一個被割裂的社會。耶穌時代的猶太人,他們生活在羅馬帝國的殖民統治之下,因此,他們渴望耶穌就是那個要帶領他們打敗羅馬帝國,建設一個富有、獨立、光榮的以色列帝國的默西亞。可是,耶穌告訴他們:“你們認識我,也知道我是從哪裡來的。可是,我不是自己來的,而是那一位元你們不認識的真實者派遣我來的。我認識祂,因為我從祂那裡來,是祂派遣了我。”(參看:若7:28)於是,他們想要逮捕耶穌,因為他們想要除掉一個與他們的理念完全不符,不合乎他們心意的默西亞。

今天,我們也在做相同的事情。因為我們也會按照我們自己對天主聖言的理解,把耶穌包裝成我們希望的樣子,以致我們雖領受了基督的洗禮和天主聖神的傅油,我們的心思意念並沒有與基督和祂的聖神合拍,拒絕受那“普照世人的真光”(參看:若1:9)的照耀。因此,在此四旬期,就讓我們依賴天主聖神,致死一切來自肉性的妄動,滿懷對永生幸福的渴望,妥當預備自己的靈魂,善度每日的生活。

天主,祢為軟弱的我們準備了相稱的幫助,求祢使我們能滿懷喜樂之情,領受它們醫治的成效,以聖潔的生活方式表現出來。藉著祢的子,我們的主耶穌基督,祢和祂及聖神,是天主,永生永王。亞孟。
