Tuesday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Matthew 9:32-38
Speak to heal and be healed
There are moments in life when we feel heavy within us that we fall silent—not because we have nothing to say, but because we don’t know how to say it. We suffer in silence, afraid of judgment, of being misunderstood, or simply overwhelmed by confusion. But silence, when it hides pain, becomes a heavy burden. It divides us inside and steals our peace. Illnesses of the body often reflect the wounds of the heart.
Today, Jesus comes to heal us. He wants to touch those places within us where we are hurt but have not dared to speak. He sets us free—not just from sin, but from fear, shame, and isolation. Do not be afraid to speak from your heart. Speak with respect, with love, but speak. Silence may protect you for a while, but truth heals. Speak to God. Speak to someone who listens. Even when we do good, there will be those who criticise, who diminish our efforts, as they did with Jesus. But let us not grow discouraged when others fail to understand us. Be prudent, yes—but never stop doing good. Even in criticism, we walk with Jesus.
And remember, we are all labourers in God’s field. We are not called to be perfect, but to be present—to be witnesses of mercy, not accusers of weakness. The world needs more hearts that show compassion, more voices that bring peace, more hands that build communion.
Let us ask the Lord to send labourers, and to make us one of them. May we go out with the joy of the Gospel, speaking with our lives, and healing with the love of Christ.
Amen.
