Mark 16: 15-18
Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul, Apostle
Living the Signs of the Gospel

Today’s Gospel invites us to meditate on the mission Jesus entrusted to His disciples: to proclaim the Good News to all creation, accompanied by powerful signs of faith and hope. Even after witnessing the Resurrection, the disciples struggled with doubts. Yet, Jesus, in His infinite mercy, entrusted them with the mission to announce His love to the world—a mission that continues through us today.

The signs Jesus promised are not limited to his disciples during his time alone but to everyone who lives in His presence. Casting out devils confronts the forces of evil and despair, bringing hope to those bound by fear and darkness. It builds communities where God’s love restores lives, freeing people from oppression.

The gift of tongues signifies the ability to communicate love, transcending barriers of language and culture. In our shared faith, we encounter strangers and recognise in them the same Spirit of love, uniting us in Christ.

To remain unharmed by deadly poison reflects our vocation to rise above the toxins of gossip, division, and hatred. Living in God’s presence enables us to be agents of reconciliation, immune to the destructive forces that seek to tear us apart.

Healing the sick symbolises the Church’s mission to care for the suffering, especially the marginalised and oppressed. In acts of compassion, we become instruments of God’s healing love. As pilgrims of hope, we are called to overcome the forces of despair with faith, courage, and joy.
